With Illinois under a statewide shelter-in-place due to the current circumstances, we’re all experiencing new ways to work, learn, and stay connected at home. Real estate services are considered essential under the executive order, which means we are continuing to help our clients buy, sell, and rent property.

Although our physical office locations are closed, we’re using digital tools and technology to work remotely and safely. You can do the same thing as you search for homes this spring. Especially for homebuyers looking in the western suburbs, we pulled together five ways you can look for a home—while staying at home.

Use the Virtual Tours in Our Listings

The real estate world is turning to virtual tours more than ever, including our jg agents. Look for video walkthroughs and virtual tours which help you get a great feel for the layout and flow of the homes.

Work Remotely with Our Agents

We believe the best real estate experience is the result of having the best agents in the industry and equipping them with the best tools possible. Our agents are well prepared for this change in the marketplace, and now is a great time to experience the jg Difference. Every step of the transaction from consultation to property search to showings to document signatures to the handling of funds can be conducted virtually by our team.

Explore Our Community Guides

Head to our City Guide to tap into a wealth of resources about 35+ cities and towns in the western suburbs. Many of our community profiles include a video about the town and a link where you’ll find even more videos where you can take a virtual tour of everything from restaurants, businesses, and cultural attractions. Can’t visit the DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville? You can with our Naperville video collection!

Explore Communities Online

There are lots of ways to explore communities online where you’re looking at homes for sale. Just for starters, you can visit websites for the public library, the town or city government, and the county government. Your online investigations can include public school districts, parks and recreation departments, and the local Chamber of Commerce.

Take Virtual Tours of Area Amenities

Did you know you can take a virtual tour of some of Chicagoland’s top museums and cultural landmarks on Google Arts & Culture? Current offerings include the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum, and the Adler Planetarium. Google partners with many more arts and cultural institutions all over the world. Just use the search tool to find what’s viewable in Chicago and Illinois.

Here are some of the Google virtual tours in our area.

  • Morton Arboretum
  • Art Institute of Chicago
  • Field Museum
  • Adler Planetarium

Use Google Street View to Take a Virtual Neighborhood Walk

When you can’t get in the car and drive through a neighborhood, it’s Google Street View to the rescue. Actually, this tool is a huge help when you’re relocating to an area from a long distance. But even if you live in the same area where you’re looking to buy a home, taking a virtual walk in the neighborhood is the next best thing to being there—and a great strategy you can use while staying at home.
